Nicole Longley, Director General Supply Chain in Joint Logistics Command – Department of Defence

Brigadier Nicole Longley was born in NSW. She graduated from the Royal Military College, Duntroon, in 1993 and commissioned into the Royal Australian Army Ordnance Corps.

 

During her career, Nicole has served in a number of different roles which have primarily focussed on Logistics, Training and of course Leadership. She has commanded at all levels, with her current role as Commander of Defence’s Seven Joint Logistic Units being a particular privilege.

 

In her current role as the Director General Supply Chain in Joint Logistics Command she is responsible for the warehousing, maintenance and distribution of Defence Materiel that is not held by units or contractors as well as operational contracting.

 

Nicole’s operational deployments have been to the Sinai with the Multinational Force and Observers as the Staff Officer Personnel and Postal, and to Afghanistan as the Chief of Staff Headquarters Joint Task Force 633- Afghanistan.

 

Nicole has received the Force Commander’s Commendation for her service in the Sinai, a Silver Commendation for her role as Officer Commanding Supply Company 1st Combat Service Support Battalion, and a Gold Commendation for her work as the Military Assistant to the Chief of Joint Operations. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian Defence Force Academy and a Masters of Strategy and Management from the University of New South Wales.

 

Nicole is married to Gerard who flies the Emergency Medical Helicopter in Canberra. They have four children Liam (21), Kai (20), Jake (18) and Sian (14). She enjoys the outdoors and takes a particularly keen interest in the multitude of activities in which her children participate.
