Resilient Industries beyond COVID-19
Thursday 22 October 2020
1.00 pm – 2.30 pm
2020 has been a year of massive change and upheaval. Some industries have done well. Other industries have been hit hard. Very hard. And other industries are in the midst of a once-in-a-generation transformation.
In this final webinar of our series, we’ll ask ourselves ‘what next?’ And how do we develop resilience to protect us from future shocks?
Looking to the future, we’ll hear from two Trade Commissioners, Industry Leaders and the Small Business Ombudsman; sharing their thoughts about what key sectors will need to do in 2021 and beyond. In this interactive webinar you’ll hear about:
- key opportunities for Australian businesses in the South Asia and Japan markets
- survival and transformation strategies from one of the hardest hit industries, international education
- world-leading projects happening in our own backyard in defence and medical research, and what that means for local businesses.
The panel will answer questions from the audience and share their opportunities for insight into how Australian businesses can emerge from the ‘COVID-19’ era stronger than ever before.

Defence is a leading industry in the Ipswich region and Ipswich City Council is proactively facilitating the support and growth of this industry. Ipswich is home to RAAF Base Amberley, Australia’s largest military airbase, as well as Rheinmetall Defence Australia’s Military Vehicle Centre of Excellence (MILVEHCOE). With a youthful, skilled population and innovative defence suppliers, Ipswich is also the first local government in Australia to have a dedicated defence industry action plan, the City of Ipswich Defence Ipswich Action Plan 2018-2023, which was presented at the successful Queensland Defence Summit Ipswich 2018.
